Makena Dandley (center) is our new Events and Community Outreach intern. Makena will be helping us with facility rentals (eg. weddings), special events (eg. Artisans Marketplace), monthly events (Teacher’s Night Out), and outreach events (booth set-ups). We’re so happy to have someone with her background and enthusiasm on our team! Makena is a recent graduate from the University of Oregon with a B.S. in Environmental Studies. She is originally from Brea, California and currently lives in Placentia, California. Makena’s dream job would be to work for an environmental consulting company that specializes in green event planning. She is very excited to start at the Environmental Nature Center and learn more about green events and community outreach.
Matthew (right) is one of the new Animal Care Interns. He is currently a junior at UCI studying Biological Sciences. He would like to become a veterinarian. “I chose to intern as animal care at ENC because of my absolute love of animals and nature,” said Matthew. “I also would like to have some work experience under my belt while in college.” Matthew also plans to serve his country, continuing his family’s line of service. He is also interested in finding a biotech company to work at.
Sidney (left) is our other new Animal Care Intern. She is currently studying at California State University, Fullerton and plans to graduate in May with a Health Science degree. Her future goals are to either to work with children, or work in the environmental sciences field. “These goals lead me to be very interested in the ENC, and I’m so excited to learn all I can from this center,” said Sydney. “I absolutely love animals and kids, I currently nanny for a 2-month-old and a two-year-old.”
