Our Commitment to Belonging, Access, and Lasting Change

The Environmental Nature Center believes that humans have the capacity to thrive sustainably on this planet — and that a healthy future depends on all of us.

Nature belongs to everyone. Access to clean air, open space, environmental education, and the opportunity to participate in shaping a sustainable future should not be limited by income, background, identity, or circumstance.

We recognize that the benefits of nature — and the burdens of environmental degradation — have not been shared equally. If we are to reverse the trajectory of environmental decline and build a resilient future for our children and grandchildren, we must broaden participation in environmental stewardship. It takes the full diversity of our community — perspectives, cultures, talents, and lived experiences — to create the systemic change our planet requires.

This commitment shapes our governance, hiring, volunteer engagement, partnerships, and program design. We work intentionally to remove barriers, expand opportunity, and cultivate pathways into environmental leadership and “green collar” careers. We prepare young people to become innovators, educators, and changemakers who measure success not by extraction or growth at any cost, but by ecological health, well-being, and shared prosperity.

We believe that environmental responsibility and human dignity are inseparable. Lasting change for the planet requires inclusion, collaboration, and shared accountability.

We do not tolerate discrimination, exclusion, or harassment in any form. We strive to create a community where every person feels welcomed, respected, and empowered to contribute.

The future we seek — sustainable, just, and resilient — requires all of us.
