The Taste of Twilight, the Environmental Nature Center’s highly anticipated complimentary membership dinner, is right around the corner!
Join us on November 7th for a fun filled night of activities, music, and more at this annual member appreciation event. The evening will begin with fun nocturnal nature activities.
“I’m especially excited about the activities this year because they will all have a nocturnal theme,” said ENC Education Coordinator Alex Lane. “Guests are encouraged to bring their flashlights and walk the trails where ENC Naturalists will tell them about the moon, singing insects, eye shine, owls, bioluminescence and bats. We’ll even have a ‘star party’!”
After working up an appetite on their night hikes, guests will enjoy a picnic dinner and live bluegrass music from the Shadybrook band, starring Rick Dunham & Candy Girard. Rick’s credits include music videos with Roy Orbison and Shania Twain. Rick’s banjo playing can be heard on the theme to the animated T.V. classic “South Park.” Candy Girard’s fiddle can be heard on the TV show “Fire Fly” and the video game “World of StarCraft.” She played violin on Jerry Garcia’s solo album “Cats Down Under the Stars” and performed on the Jay Leno Show, the Jimmie Kimmel Show, and “Who’s Line is it Anyway”.
Once everyone has a full tummy there will be a short program during which the ENC staff will present our annual Volunteer of the Year and Appreciation Awards. We’ll top off the evening by roasting marshmallows around the campfire. Bring your sweet tooth – we’ll have the ingredients ready for you to make s’mores, as well!
“My favorite part of the Taste of Twilight is recognizing our volunteer of the year. It’s always so difficult to choose which volunteer we will honor!” said Lori Whalen ENC Education and Community Relations Director. “The ENC could not function without the assistance of all of the amazing volunteers that help out here – from Museum Docents to Leaders in Training who assist with our Nature Camps. The Taste of Twilight gives us a chance to recognize them and all of the amazing work they do for us. Over the past year 768 volunteers gave 10,913 hours of their time at the Center! Amazing!”
The event is exclusively for members of the ENC, so if you are interested in becoming a member visit this webpage. If you are not sure that your membership is up to date, call the ENC at (949) 645-8489.
