I wanted to take a moment to introduce our Winter 2016 Interns! They are so impressive and enthusiastic, that I just needed to share. They’re going to help us A LOT, and I know that they will benefit so much from their “real world” experience here as well.
My name is Aaysia Shelton, one of the new Communications Interns at the ENC. I am a senior at CSUF majoring in communications with an emphasis in public relations. I chose to apply to be an intern at ENC because I have a love for nature and being outdoors. I also thought it would be awesome to be able to use and enhance public relations skills around something I love. During my internship here at ENC I hope to not only discover areas of professional development but to also learn more about nature. I am excited to experience how it feels to use everything I learned throughout my undergrad career. I also look forward to adding everything I learn here to my resume as well as my writing experiences such as press release, news and blog articles. Overall I am excited to developing a solid foundation for my professional success in public relations and working with everyone during my time at the ENC.
Hello, my name is Alejandro Reynoso. I am a senior at California State University, Fullerton majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Journalism. In order for me to graduate this upcoming May, I was required by the university to acquire an internship as a way to get my feet wet as they say, and experience what it is like to work in the field. While looking for internships, I noticed the Environmental Nature Center had an opening for a Communications intern. So I thought to myself, “Hmmm I am a big proponent of environmental awareness and I am also a Communications major, this is right up my alley”. Fast forward to a couple weeks later and I am officially a Communications Intern at ENC. I am excited for the opportunity to use the skills I have acquired over the years in a productive manner helping the ENC promote our message of being environmentally conscious. I hope to acquire new knowledge about promoting an organization by writing blogs, press releases, updating social media etc. I am optimistic that I will have an amazing time being an intern at the Environmental Nature Center and look forward to taking long, relaxing walks along the beautiful trails as well.

My name is Erdavria Simpson, a senior at Cal State University Fullerton, majoring in Broadcast journalism with a minor in Sociology. I am very excited to start my internship as Project Manager for ENC’s 2016 Artisan Marketplace. I am very passionate about creating positive news stories and spreading awareness about community events that can diversify experiences of people at all ages. I know this internship will teach me a variety of skills from marketing, project development, task management and the hard work that takes place within a nonprofit organization, to honing my communication and writing skills.
Hi my name is Kyle Hardenburg and I am a senior at California State Fullerton University. My major is communications with a focus on entertainment and tourism. I am the YouTube/Communications Intern here at the Environment Nature Center and I am excited to begin a new video log series for the center. I am overjoyed to be given the opportunity to run the ENC’s youtube channel and I am honored to be given the responsibility to create videos and explore my skills in front of and behind the camera. Hopefully with the help of the wonderful ENC staff we will make this place booming on the internet!

Hey everyone! I’m Meg, the Museum Studies Intern! I can be found most days in the Collections Closet where I’m working hard to update our education collections records, rehouse and store items and make everything easier to use! I am a recent graduate from Johns Hopkins University where I received my MA in Museum Studies. My focus was on collections management and educational program design, which made working with the ENC a perfect fit! In addition to volunteering here, I also help with the entomology collection at the Natural History Museum in LA, and the paleontology collection with OC Parks Department. I live in HB with my wonderful partner Tim and a cat named Chani. If you see me poking around counting things, stop by and say hello!
