For the past three months, I have had the privilege of serving as an Intern at the ENC. Sadly, today is my final day. In honor of my time here, I am using my final blog post to reflect on a few of the great memories I’ve made at the ENC. I genuinely enjoyed dedicating my time to the ENC because of the wonderful people that work here. The staff have a diverse array of personalities and you can tell that they truly enjoy their work. Shop at Whole Foods on 10-17, ENC Receives 5%!
Whole Foods Market just opened a new store in Newport Beach! To celebrate they are holding a Community Giving Day on October 17th. Whole Foods Markets hold Community Giving Days to help support and better communities they are involved in throughout the nation. They will be donating 5% of that day’s net sales to the Environmental Nature Center (ENC). This will go a long way in helping us provide fun and educational programs for adults and children. Since opening a store in Tustin in 2007, Whole Foods Market has single-handedly donated an astounding $50,000 to Orange County-based community groups! Recycling for Education!
Jamison “Jamie” Searles began visiting the Environmental Nature Center (ENC) as a camper when she was in elementary school. Those fond memories and experiences made a huge impact on her. Now, as a high schooler, Jamie has been an ENC Junior Naturalist for more than three years. She donates her time to help further the ENC’s mission of providing quality education through hands-on experience with nature. Jamie recently completed another community service project, which she named “Fantastic Plastic,” involving the recycling of used plastic bottles. Over a period of three months, Jamie collected and recycled various used plastic bottles from friends, neighbors, and fellow students. ENC Nature Camper makes Birthday Wish for Tigers
ENC Nature Camper Dylan is turning nine in July, but he is forgoing birthday presents to help tigers. Dylan, a student at Eastblufff Elementary, is trying to raise $1,000 to donate toward the new Tiger Trail exhibit at San Diego Zoo Safari Park by his July 13 birthday. My name is Jared Schafer, I am 10 years old and I live in Southern California. I learned about Wolf Haven when a speaker came to the Environmental Nature Center in Newport Beach to tell us about wolves and Wolf Haven. She talked about wolves and the need for Wolf Haven to protect those wolves that can not be let back in the wild. She told us about specific wolves and how you could adopt one.
