I’ve spent more than 30 years at the Environmental Nature Center.
I’ve watched children who once attended programs here return years later to share the ENC with families of their own. I’ve seen volunteers become staff, students become educators, and generations of families make the ENC part of their lives and their memories.
The ENC has never just been a workplace to me. It has been a second home.
I chose this work because I love nature and believe every child deserves the opportunity to connect with the natural world. I never imagined I would spend so much time meeting with attorneys, planners, consultants, and elected officials. Yet here we are.
Tomorrow evening, the Newport Beach Planning Commission will consider a proposed development immediately adjacent to the ENC and ENC Nature Preschool. Many members of our community believe this project is not compatible with the character of Newport Beach, the ENC’s outdoor learning environment, or the experience generations of families have come to cherish.
If the ENC, and the kind of community we want Newport Beach to remain, are important to you, I hope you’ll join us.
Please attend the Planning Commission meeting tomorrow, Thursday, June 18 at 6:00 PM at Newport Beach Civic Center.
Wear your ENC shirt if you have one. Bring a homemade sign. Most importantly, help show the Planning Commission and our elected officials how many people care about this place and the community it serves.
Thank you for standing with us.
In gratitude,
Bo Glover
