Campers let their Imaginations Run Wild this Spring

Camper_squareSpring is in the air and the Environmental Nature Center is excited to present Spring Break Camp! As a child, one has that magical capacity to move among the many eras of the earth, to see the land as an animal does, and to experience the sky from the perspective of a flower or a bee. ENC’s Spring Break Camp is a perfect opportunity for students K-6th grade to enjoy the outdoor fun by getting a safe and educational learning experience.

Spring Break Camp is April 4-7, 2016 at the Environmental Nature Center. ENC provides parents with the option of a full day camp from 9am-3pm or a half-day camp from 9am-1pm. Spring Break Camp is a place where students can let nature be their teacher!

JuliaReadingtoCampersEach day, campers will be divided into small groups by age and will rotate between three fabulous Camp Teachers. They will participate in exciting, age appropriate hands on activities and explore different themes throughout the day. Spring Break Nature Camp themes include: Amazing Animals, “Science Crafts & Exercise!”, Nature Play, “Let’s Make Stuff”, and Fruity Fun.

During “Amazing Animals” campers will join Ms. Valerie to play our exciting “Amazing Animals Game Show.” That’s not it! They will also have an exciting opportunity to meet our four legged coworkers. After campers will have an opportunity to get crafty and make cool things like talking sticks, nature journals, tie dye butterflies, Oobleck, kites, nature rubbings, and so much more!

Lori_Camp DirectorOur next exciting theme is “Science, Crafts & Exercise!” This is a unique theme that blends science, crafts, and exercise together for a fun nature and science experience at the ENC. Campers will explore science projects that they can replicate at home with supervision. They will also create crafts and learn that exercise is also important for a well-rounded life.

Being outdoors helps children grow, enhance their imagination, and maintain a healthy active lifestyle. During “Nature Play” campers will have some free time to play, explore and create in nature as far as their imaginations will take them.

“Let’s Make Stuff” is an additional theme for our older full day campers. From slime to bottle rockets, to paper beads and more, campers will be able to get their hands dirty and learn how to make different fun and exciting crafts!

Alex_squareNot only do we have an additional theme for our older full day campers but we have one for our younger campers as well. Our younger full day campers get to have some yummy fun during “Fruity Fun!” Younger full day campers will “grow” Gummi Worms and Bears in a fun and educational science experiment. Using the scientific method they will see which gummis grow the biggest in water. Campers will also have a fun filled day participating in a group art project, go on a nature scavenger hunt, and cool down with some shaved ice with fruit juice. For a grand finale, campers will go on a walking field trip to Nektar Juice Bar. – Aaysia Shelton, ENC Communications Intern
