SOCALPAPA Paints California

Plein Air Art Show and Sale

The Southern California Plein Air Painters Association (SOCALPAPA) and Environmental Nature Center (ENC) in Newport Beach are excited to announce SOCALPAPA Paints California: Plein Air Art Show and Sale on Saturday and Sunday, June 5 & 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Original works of art from SOCALPAPA artists will showcase the scenic beauty and rich diversity of California’s natural heritage. Artwork will be displayed on ENC patios and at designated trail locations throughout the 5-acre site. Paintings are in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and/or pastel.

Visitors can view art, watch artists as they paint, and enjoy a picnic lunch (bring your own!) under the shade of native trees. (ENC’s Zero Waste policy prohibits the bringing of Styrofoam or single-use plastics on site.)

LIVE MUSIC will be featured throughout each day!

June 5: Sweetwater Creek Band– This unique group enjoys interweaving various nationalities of folk and celtic music- such as Irish, Scottish, Cajun, and Swedish, with traditional Bluegrass and Gospel tunes.

June 6: Velvet Bow String Duo – From diverse backgrounds and training, multi-instrumentalists Dan Elliott (cello) and Susan Lachner (violin) blend classical and folk music in a delightful and elegant way.

This year SOCALPAPA celebrates its 20th Anniversary, as it continues to promote the centuries-old tradition of outdoor painting. Working “en plein air” (or outdoors) allows the artist to observe and capture the natural colors and light effects of the open landscape.  For more information about SOCALPAPA, visit www.socalpapa.com

The Environmental Nature Center is a non-profit, public benefit organization. Part of all art sales will be donated to the ENC, allowing a partial, charitable tax deduction. The ENC promotes natural and social science education to the community, fostering a greater appreciation of the natural world. Visit www.encenter.org
