Museum Docent Volunteer Training

The ENC is seeking new Museum Docents to staff the front desk, answer phones, greet visitors and provide basic information about the ENC.

Weekend Docents staff the front desk from 10AM – 12:30PM or from 12:30 – 3PM. Weekend docents commit to at least one weekend day per month.

Weekday Docents staff the front desk from (approximately) 8 – 12:30 and 12:30 – 5PM (we’re flexible). Weekday docents commit to one regular/consistent shift per week.

Desired Skills and Experience:   

Comfortable working with people of all ages.  Willingness to share information in a way that fosters an appreciation for natural resource conservation and sustainable living. Must be friendly, courteous, and possess good communication skills. Knowledge of Orange County natural history a plus!

What does training include?

Training includes an overview of frequently asked questions, a description of the building’s sustainability features, and a brief narrative of the ENC’s history and current programs.  Docents will view a 1-hour presentation, tour the building and grounds, and learn the phone system.
