Flora & Stone Studio is an Orange County based studio in the Dove Canyon area, featuring mother and daughter artists, Patty and Rilie O’Neill. They began creating pottery in their home-based studio in 2019. Ceramic pieces are made on a pottery wheel and through hand-built techniques. Some of their creations stand alone as a functional art piece or functional pottery while others are used to create unique floral arrangements and pottery for live, rare, and unique plants. The artists strive to create original and unique pieces with varying themes. Nature is a common element among much of their work. It is their premise, that the beauty of art and nature should be incorporated into functional pieces of pottery that can be both used and admired.
Rilie O’Neill began her adventure in pottery taking classes at Saddleback College and now is continuing on to Cal State Fullerton as a plant biologist. Her love of plants can be found in her work that is primarily thrown on the wheel.
Patty O’Neill began as an artist many years ago in pottery, jewelry making, and is now a teacher. Her love of nature and the California landscape inspire her and is evident in her work.
Both artists continue to evolve in their adventure as ceramicists and are continually inspired in their ceramic pieces. Their studio continues to grow and they continue to share their work with the public in the California area. Many of their pieces have been sold across the country as their reputations as ceramists and artists continues to grow.
Their work can be viewed on their website https://www.etsy.com/shop/FloraandStoneStudio and at the #ENCArtisanMarketplace on december 5! More info at encenter.org/visit-us/artisan-marketplace
