Hey Teachers! Education has never been more important than it is now, and the Environmental Nature Center (ENC) wants to help all educators be even better teachers! We are presenting a “Teachers Night Out!” on Thursday, March 30, from 4-7pm at which 3rd through 6th grade teachers will enjoy mini-workshops throughout the Nature Center, and learn hands-on activities to teach NGSS concepts in their own classrooms.
“Informal educators are ahead of the curve when it comes to implementing NGSS with students,” said ENC Education Coordinator Corina Silva. “We’ve always used hands-on, interactive activities to teach students, and we can’t wait to share our methods with classroom teachers!”
Teachers will also join ENC Community Outreach Director Sama Wareh to do a hands-on “magnet art” project that will demonstrate ways to connect Common Core Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards to art. Food, drinks, and a campfire will round out the evening! All attendees will be entered to win a great teacher professional development program for their school, receive priority booking for 2017-2018 school programs, and receive free curricular and instructional resources. RSVP by March 23.
